A new venue to the society at Rochford Hundred Golf Club, we had a beautiful Autumn sunny day and despite the recent hollow tinning of the greens, normally its best feature, the course was well received. 

Our thanks got to Andy Hemsley for sponsoring the day and providing the excellent prizes. We were playing for the Byfield Cup and the winner was Rob Barr with an incredible 45 points off a handicap of 31, in 2^nd place was Andy Hemsley with 42 points off 18, and 3^rd was Stu Maddison with 40 points off 20.7, edging out both Shaun Hannibal and Ron Arnold on the same score but higher handicaps of 21.0 & 22.5 respectively.

The nearest the pins were won by Stu Maddison at the 7^th, John Owens at the 11^th, Andy Hemsley at the ntp-in-2 12^th , and Peter Horrocks with nearly a hole-in-one at the 15^th. There were no guests. All the scores, revised handicaps etc. can be seen on the following pages.

The semi-final of the match play competition was postponed to Thorndon Park.

In the Captain’s Trophy Alan Littmoden retained his lead on 44 points, Nick Fitzpatrick keeps 2^nd place on 40 but 3^rd place is now shared between Andy Hemsley, Stu Maddison and Phil Walsh, all on 37 points. See Captains Trophy page for all scores.
